My data doesn't match what the platform shows

3 min read

Seeing different numbers in Glowr vs. on the platform itself is one of the most common questions creators ask. In most cases, it's expected behavior. Here's why.

API reporting delays

Platform APIs have a reporting delay — typically 24 to 72 hours — before analytics are finalized. A view you got this morning may not appear in the API data until tomorrow. This is standard across all major platforms and is not a Glowr problem.

Finalization windows by platform

  • YouTube: 24–48 hours for views and watch time to finalize
  • TikTok: up to 72 hours for video metrics, sometimes longer for Creator Fund data
  • Instagram: 24–48 hours for reach and impression data
  • Twitch: real-time for live data, 24–48 hours for historical recap

Glowr always shows the timestamp of the last sync. If the data is 6 hours old and the platform shows higher numbers, that's the finalization window at work — not a discrepancy.

When a discrepancy is normal

  • Your Glowr data is from within the platform's finalization window (within 24–72 hours of the activity)
  • The platform is showing "real-time" estimates that it will later adjust downward (common for TikTok views)
  • You're comparing different date ranges or timezone settings

When to be concerned

A discrepancy is worth investigating if: the data is more than 7 days old and still doesn't match, or the gap is larger than 10–15% beyond what the finalization window would explain.

How to check sync timestamps

  1. 1.Open your dashboard and look at the platform card.
  2. 2.The "Last synced" timestamp is shown below the platform name.
  3. 3.If the timestamp is more than a few hours old, click "Sync now" to force a refresh.
  4. 4.If the sync completes but data still differs significantly, open a support ticket with the platform, metric name, and the numbers you're comparing.
